The Seychelles at 50 to 60m run two distinct charter products: the Inner Islands cluster (Mahe, Praslin, La Digue and the granitic islands inside a 50-mile radius), and the Outer Islands expedition (Aldabra Atoll, the Amirantes, and the Cosmoledo group 600 to 800 nautical miles southwest of Mahe). The 2026 weekly rate runs $265,000 to $400,000 for motor and $215,000 to $320,000 for sailing on the Inner Islands product, plus APA at 28 to 32 percent, Seychelles cruising and yacht-licence fees, and gratuity at 10 to 15 percent. The bracket carries 10 to 12 guests in 6 cabins (7 at the upper end), with 14 to 18 crew. Embarkation is at Port Victoria (Mahe) at the Seychelles Yacht Club anchorage or the Eden Island Marina (with bracket constraints on the marina-side, primarily inside-50m). The peak season runs May to October (the southeast trade season) for the Inner Islands and November to April for the Aldabra expedition product specifically.

Why the basin works at the bracket on two different products

The Inner Islands sit on the granitic Mahe Plateau and the bracket runs them as a multi-island week with overnight anchorage at Anse Lazio (Praslin), Anse Source d'Argent and Anse Marron (La Digue), Curieuse, Cousine, and the smaller Aride and Cousin reserves. The geography is geology-driven: pink-granite boulders and turquoise water rather than the coral-atoll pattern that defines the Maldives. The bracket's anchorages handle 4 to 8 yachts at the LOA across the Inner Islands; the granitic-coast anchorages take swell from the southeast through the trade-wind season and the at-anchor stabilizer performance is a real differentiator.

The Outer Islands product is a true expedition charter. Aldabra Atoll (the largest raised coral atoll in the world, UNESCO World Heritage, the only place in the western Indian Ocean with a remnant population of giant tortoises in the wild and the world's second-largest seabird breeding colony) requires advance permit through the Seychelles Islands Foundation; the Aldabra leg runs 4 to 6 days minimum at the atoll for the cruising program to make sense given the 36 to 48 hour passage each way. Cosmoledo and Astove handle the bracket on day-anchor; the Amirantes group (Desroches, Poivre, Alphonse) carries a deeper anchorage program with the Alphonse Island Lodge as a resort-anchor reference.

The booking pattern at the bracket is the Inner Islands seven-night embarking Port Victoria, or the Inner Islands plus Outer Islands fourteen-to-twenty-one-day expedition with permits arranged 3 to 6 months out.

Weekly rate map for 2026 (Inner Islands product)

High season (May to October 2026 southeast-trade window), before APA at 28 to 32 percent and gratuity at 10 to 15 percent. The Outer Islands expedition product runs a separate premium structure (see below).

LOA bracket Motor yacht (low to high) Sailing yacht and motor-sailor (low to high)
50 to 53m $265K to $305K per week $215K to $255K per week
53 to 57m $300K to $355K per week $250K to $290K per week
57 to 60m $335K to $400K per week $275K to $320K per week

The Outer Islands product carries a 25 to 40 percent premium over Inner Islands rates at the bracket plus an expedition supplement covering the passage fuel, permits, and a minimum 14-day charter requirement. Christmas and NYE in the Seychelles run a 30 to 50 percent premium on Inner Islands product; the Aldabra window runs December to April for the calmest passage conditions. For broader context see Charter Seychelles and the 40 to 50m Seychelles bracket.

What is in the bracket in this bracket

Cabins. 6 cabins standard, 7 at the upper end. The Seychelles 50 to 60m winter pool is structurally thin (roughly 15 to 25 yachts the Inner Islands across the year) because the basin is single-rotation and the Aldabra-permit fleet is even smaller.

Crew. 14 to 18. The Seychelles crew rotation rewards captains with documented Indian Ocean and Outer Islands hours. The Aldabra-bench captain pool is narrow (roughly 20 to 30 active captains across the basin who hold the knowledge for the Outer Islands program) and the brokers know who they are.

Tenders. Primary 9 to 10m for guest transit; secondary 7m for granitic-coast beach landings (the boulder anchorages reward shallow-draft tender capability); dedicated dive tender for the reef program. The Outer Islands expedition runs the dive tender hard; confirm the spec at inquiry.

At-anchor stabilizers. Required. The southeast trade swell at the granitic-coast anchorages is the basin's most important at-anchor variable.

Helipad. Touch-and-go workable at the upper end. The Seychelles operate a domestic-flight network through Air Seychelles to Praslin and inter-island helicopter service through Zil Air; the yacht's helipad benefits long-haul guest pickup from Seychelles International (SEZ) more than inter-island movement.

Expedition kit. For the Aldabra program: water-maker redundancy, fuel range supporting the 1,500-plus nautical-mile round-trip passage with margin, dive support including dedicated rebreather capability for the bracket's serious dive clients, satellite communication redundancy. The Outer Islands product is the bracket's most kit-dependent program globally.

Trip shapes that fit the bracket

The Inner Islands seven-night. Embark Port Victoria (Mahe), overnight Eden Island, two nights Praslin (Anse Lazio, Cote d'Or), two nights La Digue (Anse Source d'Argent), one night Curieuse and Cousine, return Port Victoria. Seven nights. The bracket fits the entire run and this is the basin's signature week.

The Inner Islands plus Amirantes ten-night. Embark Port Victoria, four nights Inner Islands, run southwest overnight to Desroches and Poivre, three nights Amirantes anchorages, return Port Victoria. Ten nights. The Amirantes leg pushes the pattern toward expedition-mode without the full Aldabra commitment.

The Aldabra Outer Islands expedition (14 to 21 days). Embark Port Victoria, run southwest with overnight passages totaling 36 to 48 hours each way, six to eight nights Aldabra under SIF permit, additional nights at Cosmoledo and Astove, return Port Victoria. Fourteen to twenty-one nights. Best at the upper end of the bracket for the open-water passage and the fuel range. Permit lead time runs 3 to 6 months. For destination context see Charter Seychelles, Charter Maldives, and How to plan an Indian Ocean charter.

What the bracket does not do well in the Seychelles

Marina-side weekly. Eden Island Marina handles dockage up to roughly 50m at the pattern; the bracket's upper end typically anchors at the Seychelles Yacht Club anchorage and runs tender drop-offs into Port Victoria. Charter clients who want stern-to dockage at the LOA should plan the basin around the anchorage pattern from the outset.

Aldabra-only weeks. The Outer Islands product requires the 14-day minimum at the bracket because the passage logistics consume 3 to 4 days of the program. Inside-week attempts at Aldabra are not viable; the program is structurally a fortnight or longer.

Storm-season weeks (December and January on the Outer Islands passage). The Outer Islands passage is calmest April to November; the December and January window runs into the northwest-monsoon storm pattern at the equatorial latitudes. The Aldabra-running captain bench respects the window and reroutes when the passage doesn't fit.

Two we would book

For two couples, seven days in mid-July, Inner Islands cluster: a 53m motor yacht with 6 cabins, at-anchor stabilizers, twin tenders, embarkation Port Victoria. Budget $310K plus APA, all-in roughly $415K. Booking lead time: 6 to 9 months.

For a family of 10, ten days in early September, Inner Islands plus Amirantes: a 56m motor yacht with 6 cabins, full dive program, embarkation Port Victoria. Budget $360K plus APA, all-in roughly $490K. Booking lead time: 8 to 11 months.

For a serious-dive friend group of 8, twenty-one days in May, full Aldabra expedition: a 58m motor yacht with 6 cabins, full Outer Islands expedition kit, permits in hand at the booking stage. Budget $1.2M (3 weeks plus expedition supplement) plus APA at 32 percent, all-in roughly $1.65M. Booking lead time: 14 to 18 months.

Build year, refit, condition

The Seychelles 50 to 60m pool runs the youngest average for the Indian Ocean basin because the Inner Islands attract European-flag tonnage repositioning south from the Mediterranean. A 2020 or later refit with at-anchor stabilizers, confirmed dive-tender spec, and demonstrated Outer Islands range (for the Aldabra program specifically) is the value zone. We would pass on tonnage running pre-2018 water-maker and fuel-range margins through the Aldabra passage specifically; the redundancy requirements at the Outer Islands are not theatre, they are the actual operating constraint.
