Why the bracket fits Saint-Tropez specifically

Saint-Tropez at this LOA is a marina-and-anchorage product with the marina as the gravitational centre. The Vieux Port stern-to lineup is the route's commercial purpose: a 45m motor yacht moored at the Quai Suffren in August is part of the town's promenade scenery, and the booking is partly buying the visible berth. The Pampelonne anchorage handles the lunch program (Club 55, La Reserve a la Plage, Loulou Ramatuelle Plage) at 1 to 3 miles off the beach, with a longer tender run than at Cannes or Monaco but inside the workable bracket.

The Vieux Port slot count is the binding constraint. The Vieux Port stern-to lineup holds roughly 15 to 25 yachts at this LOA on any given August night, with the Capitainerie running the slot reservation system on a confirmed-charter basis. Fees run 350 to 700 euros per metre per night at peak. The Quai Suffren visible berths are the premium product and carry a stiff premium over the Quai d'Estienne d'Orves and the Quai Jean Jaures. Saint-Tropez's rate floor sits 5 to 10 percent above Cannes and roughly level with Monaco off-Grand Prix at the same LOA, with the largest premium showing during the first three weeks of August and Les Voiles week in early October. What the bracket includes in this bracket

Cabins. 5 to 6-cabin layouts dominate, with 5-cabin friend-group configurations more common at 40 to 45m and 6-cabin family-friendly configurations more common at 45 to 50m.

Crew. 9 to 14, weighted toward the higher end at the upper bracket because the Pampelonne lunch program, the Vieux Port quay presence, and the dinner-ashore tender programme together carry a heavier service load than most Med routes.

Tenders. A primary 9 to 10m fast tender plus a 7 to 8m secondary. The Pampelonne tender run favours speed, and the Vieux Port to Pampelonne shuttle in August needs a presentable boat. The Castoldi-style jet tender or the Hodgdon Limousine equivalent is meaningful at this bracket.

Stabilizers. At-rest stabilizers matter for the Pampelonne anchorage (afternoon chop builds with the late-day onshore breeze) and the Iles d'Hyeres anchorages (Porquerolles, Port-Cros) when the route extends west. Underway stabilizers are less binding because the Cote d'Azur summer passage legs are short.

Beach club. The opening transom is meaningful for the Pampelonne afternoon program and used heavily by the August client mix.

Trip shapes that fit the bracket

The Saint-Tropez plus Iles d'Hyeres week. Embark Saint-Tropez, two nights Vieux Port, day-run west to Porquerolles, anchor off Plage Notre Dame for the night, return via Cavalaire and Pampelonne. Seven nights. The bracket fits.

The Cote d'Azur eastern run. Embark Saint-Tropez, three nights, transit east to Cannes (one night), Antibes (one night), Monaco (two nights), one-way disembark. Seven nights. Canonical, and the bracket is the right size for the marina program.

The Var-and-Corsica combination. Embark Saint-Tropez, two nights, cross to Calvi or Saint-Florent (Corsica), four nights cruising the Corsica north and west coast, return Saint-Tropez. Ten to fourteen nights. The bracket handles the crossing in summer weather and the Corsica anchorages comfortably.

What the bracket does not do well in Saint-Tropez

Vieux Port slot at peak. The August first-fortnight slot count is the binding constraint and the most expensive in the Med. Without a confirmed slot, the bracket lives at anchor outside the port mole, which is a different product. Lock the slot at contract.

Pampelonne anchorage chop. The afternoon onshore breeze builds chop on the Pampelonne anchorage after 3pm, and at 47 to 50m the bracket needs at-rest stabilizers to keep the lunch service tolerable. We would pass on any yacht without them for a peak-August Pampelonne week.

Quay-walk distance. The Quai Jean Jaures and the Quai d'Estienne d'Orves slots are 200 to 400 metres further from the town centre than the Quai Suffren, and the August comparison set treats the Suffren visible berth as a different product. Pay the premium or accept the walk.

For a family of 12, fourteen days in late July, Saint-Tropez and Corsica: a 49m motor yacht with 6 cabins, embarkation Saint-Tropez. Budget $475K plus APA, all-in roughly $650K. Booking lead time: 12 to 14 months.

Vintage and refit checks

Saint-Tropez is the most aesthetic-sensitive route at this bracket apart from Monaco Grand Prix week. A 2018 to 2024 build, or a pre-2018 build with a 2023 or 2024 full-interior refit, is the realistic ask for the Vieux Port slot product. We would pass on any yacht without at-rest stabilizers, on any yacht arriving from a hard Caribbean season without a Mediterranean shipyard refit, and on any yacht that cannot confirm a Vieux Port slot at the time of contract.
