The Kornati at 40 to 50m is the northern Dalmatian archipelago of 89 islands and the routing's quiet alternative to the Split-Hvar-Korcula central corridor. A 40 to 50m motor yacht running a Kornati-anchored week in 2026 peak August costs $210,000 to $290,000 per week plus 30 percent APA, takes 10 to 12 guests, and embarks at ACI Marina Sibenik 22nm south of the park or Marina Dalmacija near Zadar 12nm north of the park. The active 40 to 50m fleet calling the Kornati through July and August is roughly 9 yachts, the lightest Croatian anchorage in the bracket because the Kornati lacks any town overnight and the routing requires the national park permit through every overnight inside the park boundary.

Why the Kornati works for the bracket

Kornati National Park covers the central 35 islands of the archipelago with the park boundary defined and the entry permit required per yacht per day inside the boundary (). The park's anchorages are mooring-buoy fields installed by the park authority and the bracket-fit pattern is mooring-buoy overnight at one of the park's central anchorages with the tender shore-run to the small island restaurants (the "konobas") that operate in the park.

The anchorages run Levrnaka on the western edge for the park's quietest overnight (mooring buoys for the bracket, dinner tender shore-run to the Levrnaka konobas), Piskera on the south-central edge for the park's harbour and the marina with 12 berths in the bracket, Smokvica on the central archipelago for the mooring-buoy lunch anchor, the Mana cliffs on the western face for the late-afternoon shore-cliff approach, and Telascica on Dugi Otok at the park's northern edge (a separate nature park with its own permit, saltwater lake Mir, the bracket's secondary overnight). The maestral runs the northern Dalmatian summer from the northwest at 8 to 14 knots in the afternoon, the bora can build hard in the bora-funnel windows at the Velebit channel north of the archipelago, and the jugo is the southerly cycle that limits the park's southern anchorages.

What is in the bracket in this bracket

Cabins. 5 cabin layouts dominate. The bracket-fit Kornati week pairs the park with a Sibenik or Zadar opener and the central Dalmatian fleet does not typically tour the park, so the bookable Kornati-routed fleet is the smaller northern Dalmatian group.

Crew. 9 to 11 on motor yachts. The Kornati workload runs heavy on park-permit handling, mooring-buoy work (which is more demanding than open anchorage), and konoba shore-run logistics for guest dinners. Croatian-flag heavy with Austrian and German secondary; the chef's provisioning has to handle the offshore week because the park has no in-park provisioning.

Tenders. A primary 9m fast tender plus a 6 to 7m beach-landing secondary. The Levrnaka and Piskera konoba shore-runs run the primary at the tender pier and the Smokvica and Mana day-runs run the secondary.

At-anchor stabilizers. Recommended. The Kornati mooring buoys hold the swing tight which moderates the chop, but in the maestral afternoon the central archipelago can build 0.4 to 0.8m residual chop into the anchor and the at-anchor system improves the dinner window comfort. Less critical than Hvar or Vis.

Helipad. Useful at the upper end for the Sibenik or Zadar reposition (Sibenik 22nm south, Zadar 12nm north, 10 to 12 minutes by helicopter from the central park). Touch-and-go capable yachts price 3 to 5 percent above non-helipad equivalent at peak.

What the bracket does not do well in the Kornati

The Kornati without park permits arranged in advance. The park entry runs per-yacht per-day and the bracket's week inside the park boundary requires the captain to register the routing in advance. We would pass on any plan that books the Kornati without a written park-permit reservation in advance for August.

The Kornati as a social anchor. The park has no towns, the konobas are small, and the social density is the routing's lowest in Croatia. A client expecting the Hvar pattern will read the Kornati as too quiet. We would pass on any pitch that frames the Kornati as a social week.

Telascica's Mir lake approach above 47m. The lake itself requires a tender shore-run from the Telascica bay anchor and the upper end of the bracket's mothership anchor in the bay can be tight in the bora-funnel forecast. We would pass on any 47m+ unit booked for Telascica without a confirmed alternative anchor in the bora-window forecast.

Two we would book

For two couples, seven days in early August, Kornati and northern Dalmatian quiet week: a 43m motor yacht with 5 cabins and at-anchor stabilizers, embarkation Sibenik ACI Marina, three Kornati park nights, one Telascica, one Skradin, two transit overnights. Budget $240K plus APA, all-in roughly $325K. Booking lead time: 9 to 12 months including the park-permit reservation.

For a family of 10, ten days in late July, Kornati and central Croatian one-way: a 47m motor yacht with 6 cabins, twin tenders, embarkation Sibenik, four park nights, Solta, Hvar, Vis, Brac, disembark Split. Budget $290K plus APA, all-in roughly $390K. Booking lead time: 10 to 13 months.

Build year, refit, condition

The Kornati-routed 40 to 50m fleet runs on Sunseeker, Princess, Sanlorenzo, Heesen, Cantieri di Pisa, Benetti, and the Croatian-domestic presence with the northern Dalmatian charter agencies dominant. A 2017 to 2024 build with at-anchor stabilizers (maestral-tested), twin tenders, a captain with Kornati National Park mooring-buoy experience, and a refit within 24 months of the booked week is the zone. We would pass on any unit booked for the Kornati without a written park-permit reservation, on any 47m+ unit booked for Telascica without a confirmed alternative anchor for the bora forecast, on any unit whose chef provisioning calendar is not positioned for the offshore in-park week, and on any unit whose Croatian VAT compliance has gaps that compromise the PDV 13 percent eligibility.
