Bodrum sits at the northern end of the Turkish coast and at the western end of the Gulf of Gokova, which is the protected anchorage system that defines the Bodrum charter week. The 30 to 40m bracket is the right size for the Gokova: large enough to anchor offshore in Kargi Bay, English Harbour, and Sehir Adalari with proper at-anchor stabilizers; small enough to take guests close in to Cleopatra Beach and the Yedi Adalari archipelago by main tender rather than a long beach-tender shuttle.
The corridor short list: Yalikavak overnight at the start and end, two to three nights in the Gulf of Gokova proper, one or two nights the Datca peninsula south. A seven-night Bodrum-based charter rarely touches a marina between the bookends. Charter clients who want port-hopping should consider the Bodrum to Gocek run instead; pure Bodrum weeks reward the anchorage-driven boat handling.

Shoulder season (mid-May to mid-June, mid-September to mid-October) drops these by 25 to 35 percent. The Bodrum Cup week (late October) is a separate event-driven market where larger sailing yachts price 50 percent above shoulder; pure motor-yacht charter clients should avoid the Cup week unless the event is the point.

Cabins. 5 cabins for 10 guests is standard. The Bodrum-built motor yacht inventory leans toward beam-forward hulls with strong main-deck volumes, often with twin master cabins as a charter feature rather than a single owner cabin and four guest cabins.
Crew. 6 to 8. Bodrum carries a deep gulet-trained crew bench, which translates well to motor yacht F and B and exterior service. The chief stew and chef bench is narrower for international charter clients with European fine-dining expectations than the equivalent Antibes or Palma pool.
Tenders. Two tenders is standard. A 7m main tender and a 5m beach tender is the setup for the Gokova bays. The English Harbour and Sehir Adalari swimming days reward a beach tender that lands close to shore.
At-anchor stabilizers. Required. Bodrum afternoon meltemi pushes a sustained 1m to 1.5m swell into the northern Gokova bays from mid-July through August. Yachts without zero-speed stabilizers are uncomfortable in the bracket, and the at-anchor differential is the single largest charter-experience variable.

Week shapes from Bodrum at this bracket
The pure Gokova week. Embark Yalikavak, work the northern Gokova (Kargi, Cleopatra Island, English Harbour), continue to Sehir Adalari, return via the Datca peninsula, disembark Yalikavak. Seven nights, four anchorages. The bracket fits all of this.
The Bodrum to Gocek one-way. Embark Yalikavak, work the Gokova south to Datca, transit the Hisaronu Gulf, finish in Gocek. Seven nights. Requires a one-way charter agreement and a Gocek disembarkation logistics plan; verify both with the operator before booking because the one-way premium and disembarkation transfer cost can move the all-in number by 8 to 12 percent.
The Symi day-cross. Embark Yalikavak, day-visit Symi via Datca, return to Turkish waters. Single-day or two-day cross-border, requires a Turkish-flag yacht with a current transit log. The Greek side cannot host overnight without triggering Greek VAT on the entire charter, so this is a structured day visit, not a flexible cross-border week.
What does not work at this bracket from Bodrum
Long-passage weeks. The Bodrum to Antalya run is awkward at the bracket because the open-water leg south of Datca to Marmaris and on to Kekova adds 200nm of passage to a seven-night week; the upper-bracket sailing yachts handle it, the lower-bracket motor yachts do not.
August Yalikavak slip availability. Yalikavak Marina prioritizes year-round berth holders during August and the slip count for transient charters is constrained. Bodrum-based charter clients should confirm the embarkation and disembarkation slip at booking, not on arrival.
Quiet anchorages in peak. The Gokova bays are crowded from 15 July through 25 August. Charter clients who want true low-density anchorages should book shoulder weeks or move south to the Gocek inner bays.

Vintage and refit checks
The Bodrum-flag fleet at this bracket is the youngest in the Eastern Mediterranean. A 2019 to 2024 build with current AV and HVAC is the value zone, and Bilgin and Mengi-Yay yards dominate. Older 2010 to 2014 builds are workable only if the 2023 or later refit covers electrical, AV, and refrigeration; pass on units running original kit through Bodrum August heat.
