A 2018 Pershing 8X with 480 hours, asking €4.85M in May 2026, will burn through 850 to 1,100 liters per hour at cruise. A 2022 Pershing 9X with the same use profile will close near €7.9M. A 2014 Pershing 72 (the model that became the 7X), with twin MTU 16V2000 M94s and surface drives, can be bought for under €2M today and is one of the better entry points into performance Italian motoryachts. The Pershing brand spans a wide budget range. The product is unambiguous. Speed, edge, and the willingness to spend money on fuel.

This is a buyer's guide for the Pershing range as it exists in 2026, from the 5X (formerly the 54) through the 140 (formerly the 140 GTX). What to look for on each hull, what to pay, what to avoid.

What Pershing actually is

Pershing is a Ferretti Group brand built in Mondolfo on the Adriatic coast. Every modern Pershing uses a hard-chined deep-V hull, twin or triple MTU diesels, and Top System surface drives. The brand position is straightforward. The fastest production Italian yachts in their size class, designed for short to medium passages at 35 to 42 knots, with interiors that match the exterior aesthetic.

The X range introduced in 2018 (5X, 6X, 7X, 8X, 9X, GTX 116 / 14X) is the current generation. Earlier hulls (the 50, 56, 64, 72, 82, 88, 92, 108, 115) are still on the brokerage market in volume and represent good value for buyers who do not need the latest design.

Pricing in 2026

Model Year range Asking range Notes
Pershing 5X (54) 2018-2024 €1.45M to €2.35M Single-step entry
Pershing 6X / 62 2018-2024 €2.4M to €3.6M Volume hull
Pershing 7X / 72 2014-2024 €2.5M to €5.2M Wide spread, hull age dependent
Pershing 8X / 82 2016-2024 €3.85M to €7.5M Active resale segment
Pershing 9X / 92 2018-2024 €6.2M to €11.5M Tight market
Pershing GTX 116 2021-2024 €13.5M to €22M New design language
Pershing 140 2018-2024 €19M to €31M Limited supply

Pershing trades closer to ask than most Italian semi-production brands. A clean 8X with current AV and recent service will close within 6% of ask in 2026.

Survey priorities

Five items that should be on every Pershing pre-purchase survey.

Surface drive seals. The Top System units fitted across the range have a service interval of approximately 2,000 hours that owners frequently defer. Cost of a neglected seal service runs €45K to €90K per drive depending on damage. Inspect the seal area on the lift, ask for the last seal service invoice, and budget conservatively.

Trim tab and articulating drive geometry. The hard-chined hull is sensitive to trim setup, and a Pershing that has been driven aggressively without periodic geometry checks can develop hull stress at the chine. Visual survey at the chine and a lift inspection are essential.

Engine room ventilation and exhaust manifold condition. The MTU 16V2000 series in the Pershing engine room runs hot, particularly on hulls used in the Mediterranean summer. Manifold replacement is €35K to €70K. Check service records.

Hydraulic helm and ride control. The Naiad ride control system on 2014-2018 hulls has had several firmware updates. Confirm the system is on current firmware and ask for the last service invoice.

AV and integration. The pre-2020 Naviop integration is functional but firmware support has thinned. A current AV refresh on an 82 or 92 is €60K to €150K.

Hulls we would not buy

Three Pershing situations we would walk a client through carefully before any offer goes in.

The 2008-2012 Pershing 64. Production was short, the design has been superseded twice, parts availability for the original ZF surface drive units is patchy, and the resale market has thinned. Asking prices look attractive but you will own this boat longer than you want to. If you want a 64-foot Pershing, wait for a clean 2015+ 64 instead or look at a Riva 76 Bahamas in similar money.

The 2014-2016 Pershing 108. The diesel-electric prototype hulls had teething issues that were addressed by Ferretti at the yard's cost during warranty, but resale buyers have remained cautious. Asking prices reflect this discount. If you can confirm the documented yard updates and have a Ferretti engineer sign off, the hull is fine. If you cannot, walk.

Any Pershing that has been chartered hard for more than three seasons without a documented mid-life service. The hull and engineering can take the punishment, but the cumulative deferral cost on chartered Pershings is consistently underestimated. A 9X chartered hard for four seasons without a major service is a €450K to €800K refit risk and that needs to be priced into your offer.

Pershing versus the field

The honest competition in 2026 is narrow.

Pershing versus Sunseeker Predator. Sunseeker is faster on paper at the top end but the build quality and resale curve favor Pershing. A 2020 Pershing 8X holds value better than a 2020 Sunseeker Predator 80. We cover Sunseeker in Sunseeker yachts for sale.

Pershing versus Riva Folgore / Corsaro. Riva is the more refined boat, Pershing is the faster boat, both come out of the Ferretti Group. Riva holds value better. Pershing depreciates faster but starts at a lower price. The choice is aesthetic and emotional more than financial. See Riva yachts for sale.

Pershing versus Mangusta. Mangusta is the direct performance peer in the Italian market. Mangusta has stronger Gigayacht presence above 50m. Pershing has stronger volume in the 18m to 35m range. For the 25m to 40m segment, run both sets of listings in parallel.

Brokers

Pershing is sold through the Ferretti Group dealer network. Allied Marine handles the US market. The brand's own offices in Mondolfo and Monaco handle Europe. For the brokerage market specifically, the strongest Pershing CVs sit with Allied Marine in Florida, with the brand's Monaco office, and with select brokers at Camper & Nicholsons and Northrop & Johnson. We cover the dealer network in our Allied Marine review.

Fuel burn, range, and operating reality

Two numbers shape the Pershing ownership case more than any other. Fuel burn at cruise and range at displacement.

A Pershing 7X at the 30-knot fast cruise setting burns approximately 380 to 460 liters per hour. A Pershing 8X at the same setting burns 750 to 920 liters per hour. A Pershing 9X at the same setting burns 1,050 to 1,300 liters per hour. At European 2026 marine diesel pricing of approximately €1.55 to €1.75 per liter, an 8X owner is paying €1,160 to €1,610 per hour of fast cruising. A typical owner uses 180 to 280 hours per year, which puts annual fuel cost in the €210K to €450K range on an 8X.

Range at displacement is the second number. A Pershing 8X at the 10-knot displacement setting will cover roughly 720 nautical miles on a tank, but the yacht is not designed to cruise this way and the experience is unremarkable. Plan on Pershing ownership as a Mediterranean coastal program, not a transatlantic one. The boats that do best on resale are the ones used as designed. Short to medium fast passages between Riviera, Sardinia, the Balearics, and the Italian coast.

Annual operating cost on a Pershing 8X, fully crewed (captain plus stewardess plus engineer on call), runs €450K to €750K depending on cruising pattern, dockage choices, and refit cycle. Annual operating cost on a 9X runs €650K to €1.1M on the same logic. Insurance has tightened in 2025 and 2026 on high-speed hulls and the underwriter pool for a 9X is smaller than it was three years ago. Expect to pay 0.9% to 1.4% of hull value annually on premium. We cover the broader picture in the annual cost of yacht ownership.

What to do next

Read how to buy a yacht for the survey and contract discipline. If you have a specific hull in mind, send the brochure, the service log, and any survey reports already on file. We will give you a candid read on the yacht, the price, and the next move.

Pershing in 2026 is a sharp product for buyers who want speed without going custom. The brand has earned its position. Buy the right hull, do the survey work, and you will get a five to seven year run before the next decision. That is the bar.
